{"id":43614,"date":"2025-02-02T10:51:52","date_gmt":"2025-02-02T10:51:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thereporterethiopia.com\/?p=43614"},"modified":"2025-02-02T12:10:42","modified_gmt":"2025-02-02T12:10:42","slug":"editors-note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thereporterethiopia.com\/43614\/","title":{"rendered":"Editor\u2019s Note"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An article published in The Reporter last week with the title <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thereporterethiopia.com\/43574\/\">\u2018Tigray Admin introduces legislation paving way for federal intervention<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\u2019 has elicited a strong response from senior officials of the Tigray Interim Administration (TIA), who deny the legislation referred to in the article exists and are engaging in a campaign to distort the facts.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation in question is a regulation signed and ratified by TIA President Getachew Reda two weeks ago, with provisions that reinforce and empower councils and the TIA executive organ.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation\u2019 preamble states the regulation was deemed necessary to ensure security, law and order in Tigray and to enable the TIA to execute its mandates.<\/p>\n<p>The regulation refers to articles 14 and 15 of Federal Proclamation 359\/1995 (2003 G.C.), dubbed the \u2018System for the Intervention of the Federal Government in the Regions Proclamation.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Article 14\/3\/B empowers the TIA \u201cTo speedily facilitate conditions for the regional government to resume its office by restoring the constitutional order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Article 14 also lists measures that can be taken by the federal government in order to rein in a situation that endangers the constitutional order in a particular regional state.<\/p>\n<p>Article 15\/2\/C empowers the provisional government to \u201censure the enforcement of law and order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We have attached the regulation in question to clear up any confusion.
